Schneeberger has been producing grinding machines since 1923 but their latest, redesigned range of NG-X (new generation) machines represents a big change in the machines design – the machine footprints are considerable smaller but the X, Y and Z axes travel are greater allowing increased capacity in the machines.

The ariesNGP is a proven, universal tool grinder with a lot of highlights. The machine’s very compact design, as well as the integrated VAS coolant system, helps to save floor space in your production plant; roughly only 1.7 m2 is needed, but despite its size the work range of the machine is impressive. The machine can grind long tools up to 250 mm and large diameters up to 250 mm. The strong double grinding spindle with 5 kW motor is liquid cooled. Optional accessories like a manual tailstock and a steady rest enlarge the range of tools which can be ground. The CNC control from FANUC’s 3x series has a wide TFT color screen of 19”

Intelligent, menu-driven input via a touch screen with the speed of a smartphone. Geometric data is calculated with maximum precision thanks to 3D models of tool, grinding wheels and machine, it naturally includes collision checking.
Scara robot, nothing to be scared of
The latest add on to the product range of SCHNEEBERGER machines is the SCARA (selective compliance assembly robot) from FANUC. The ariesNGP, a 5 axes universal tool grinding machine, can now be equipped with this compact industrial robot with 4 axes. This means the machine becomes an independent production machine for high capacity production. The robot serves the machines HSK 80 work-piece holder out of two integrated pallets. It can handle tools up to 100 mm length and up to 16 mm diameter. The moving speed is impressive so high quantities of tools can be moved in a short time. For ease of use the two-tool pallet, (each pallet 200 x 200 mm), can be equipped with the well-known patented VARIO Pallet from SCHNEEBERGER to handle different tool diameters.
CAD-CAM grinding software
ariesNGP runs the latest version of the CAD-CAM grinding software Qg1 from SCHNEEBERGER. The programming of even complex tools is a real cinch with the huge TOOGLE tool database to choose from, sometimes with only 3 clicks to finish a tool. Interactive graphics assist you right from the first entries and guide you through the programming process. The software includes also a 3D kinematic simulation of the machine, allows direct import of 3D models and is even WYSIWYG. The collision checking provides safety and helps operators to avoid incompatible inputs and supports them in solution finding.
